What We Store

Your library, reading sessions, collected words, and saved lines are kept on your device and synced to your account when you’re signed in. Signing in is optional; if you create an account with Sign in with Apple or email, we store your email address to identify your account.

Speech & Microphone

Reading sessions listen for word questions and the lines you choose to save. Quiet reading stays on your device: audio is only sent anywhere while you’re actually speaking. Those moments of speech are streamed securely to our speech-recognition provider, Soniox, to be turned into text, identified only by an anonymous code, never your account. When enhanced recognition isn’t available, sessions use Apple’s speech recognition instead. Faria doesn’t store your microphone recordings.

Definitions

When you look up a word, the word and a small amount of context from your book are sent to our definitions service so the definition fits what you’re reading. To generate the definition and its spoken audio, that request is processed on our behalf by an AI language provider and a speech provider. It is used only to produce your definition. We don’t sell your data.

Screen Time

If you connect Screen Time, Faria uses it only to keep the apps you pick shut until your daily reading is done. The apps you choose stay on your device, and Faria never receives your app-usage data.

Membership

Faria Pro subscriptions are purchased through Apple, and Apple processes your payment. We never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status, so RevenueCat receives purchase information such as your subscription state and an anonymous user identifier.

Third Parties

Synced data is stored with our hosting provider, Supabase. Book covers and metadata come from Open Library and Google Books. We share data with service providers only as needed to run Faria, and each one is required to protect your data with safeguards at least as protective as this policy. No third party may use your data for its own advertising, and we don’t sell it to anyone.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your synced data is kept for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account and all synced data at any time in the app under Settings, or by emailing [email protected]. Deleting the app removes all data stored on your device. You can withdraw permissions like the microphone, speech recognition, and Screen Time anytime in your device’s Settings.
